Elk Lake Resort does not allow dogs on the seats of the Paws & Poles Pontoon Boat.

Where Your Dog Can Join the Fun

Dogs are welcome in the following areas at Elk Lake Resort:

  • Paddleboards, Kayaks, and Canoes
  • Paws & Poles Pontoon Boat
  • Day Dock
  • Dining Deck
  • Parking Lots
  • Campground
  • Beaches

Dogs may also stay in cabins (summer season only) after paying a $50 per dog, per night pet fee. A maximum of 2 dogs is allowed per cabin or campground site.

Dog-Friendly Guidelines

Dogs must be on a leash at all times while on Resort property. The leash must be attached to a handler, meaning your dog must remain under your control at all times.


Dogs may not be tied or tethered to chairs, tables, trees, buildings, or any other object.


Dog waste must be picked up immediately.


Aggressive or excessively disruptive dogs are not allowed. This includes dogs that lunge at people, bark excessively, growl, or are not friendly toward people.


Dogs are allowed in cabins for a pet fee of $50 per night, per dog. The pet fee applies even if you are only visiting the Resort for the day.


Dogs are not allowed on Resort Property during the Winter Season.

Where Can I Enjoy the Beach With My Dog?

Dogs are not allowed off leash while on Elk Lake Resort property. Dogs must be on a leash, with the leash attached to a handler at all times.


Dogs may not be tied to chairs, tables, trees, or any other object. This includes the beach—please do not throw frisbees or allow your dog to run off leash in this area.


There are several other places around Elk Lake where you can enjoy time with your dog. Please check the rules for the campground or Forest Service areas to determine whether dogs are allowed off leash. Elk Lake Resort does not govern the rules for these areas.

What Can’t My Dog Go On?

Dogs are not allowed inside the Lodge, Cabanas, Trifecta or DLX Pontoons, or in other guests' personal spaces spaces.


Dogs are not allowed on the seats of the Paws & Poles Pontoon Boat or on furniture, beds, or couches inside the cabins.


Additional cleaning or other fees may apply if these rules are not followed.

What’s Not Allowed

You cannot tie your dog to any item while on Resort property. This includes the Dining Deck wall, chairs, tables, trees, cabins, vehicles, or any other object.


Dogs may not be left unattended anywhere, including in an RV, van, camper, tent, cabin, or vehicle. A responsible person must remain with the dog at all times.


Please consider these rules when planning your visit to Elk Lake Resort and how they may apply to your stay.

Dog Gear

While we do not sell dog food in our General Store, we do have a few water bowls available on the Dining Deck for those joining their family during a meal.



Please remember to bring a leash, food, and water dish for your dog. Towels are also recommended, and please be mindful of the temperature of the asphalt on the main drive, especially on warm days.
