Winter RESERVATIONS
Lodging Reservations
Our winter overnight season runs from December 18, 2026 through April 4, 2027. A 2-night minimum stay is required, with 1-night stays available in our camping cabins. After the New Year, the Lodge and lodging are closed Monday through Wednesday. Holiday periods (New Year’s Eve, Presidents’ Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. weekend) require longer minimum stays. Please note the resort is not accessible by car in winter—arrival is via scheduled snowcat transportation or your own snowmobiles or skies.
Cabins
Our cozy winter cabins offer the perfect retreat for a peaceful, lodge-style getaway, with warm interiors and a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and unwind after a day of fresh mountain air. While portable fire pits are not permitted for safety reasons, firewood and s’mores kits are available for purchase in our General Store so you can still enjoy a classic fireside treat. During the holiday season, guests staying with us on evenings when special holiday meals are offered are invited to join in these memorable dining experiences, and participation in the holiday dinner is required for all overnight guests. Pricing and menu details for these holiday dinners will be announced later in the year. We look forward to helping you create a warm, comfortable, and truly special winter stay.
For select winter holidays, including New Year’s Eve, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Presidents Day, a minimum stay of three nights is required for all cabin reservations. Please note that this year, our Valentine’s Dinner falls over Presidents Day weekend, making it an especially festive and popular time to visit. We encourage guests to plan ahead for these dates to fully enjoy a relaxed and memorable holiday getaway.
Transportation
In winter, the Lodge is accessible only by snowcat, cross-country skiing, or snowmobile. Guests booking accommodations should also reserve snowcat transportation unless planning to arrive by ski or snowmobile. Daily transportation is available from December 18 through January 3; outside of these dates, regular transport operates on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and select holidays. Please visit our Snowcat Transportation page for full details.
Meals
We’re so excited to gather together for our Holiday Dinners on these special evenings—it’s one of our favorite ways to create warm, lasting memories with our guests. From festive meals on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to ringing in the New Year and celebrating Valentine’s Day, these moments are meant to be shared around the table.
Because these dinners are such a meaningful part of the experience, all guests staying with us on these nights are included in the celebration and the associated dinner fee will apply. Guests staying both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are only required to attend one holiday dinner. If you would like to reserve your spot in advance, please email reservations@elklakeresort.com. Please note that snowcat transportation is limited in winter and must be reserved online in advance.
Holiday Dinner cancellations must be made at least two weeks prior to the holiday date, and our standard lodging cancellation policy remains in effect regardless of menu or pricing details. Dinner reservations are only accepted for holiday meals—no reservations are taken for other dining periods.
We look forward to welcoming you, sharing a delicious meal, and making your holiday stay feel extra special and memorable.
Pets
For their safety, pets and service animals are unfortunately not allowed on our snowcat or at the resort during the winter.
Lodge
The Lodge is the perfect place to warm up and refuel after a day on the snow. Relax by one of our cozy fireplaces with a drink and connect with friends. In the back room, you can hang your snowmobile helmet and gloves and leave your backpacks near the fire to dry. The Lodge also features a general store, fuel for your snowmobile, a coffee station, a full bar, and a kitchen to keep you energized for all your winter adventures.
Families will enjoy sleds for kids, board and card games, Lincoln Logs, and coloring books to keep little ones entertained. While we cannot guarantee satellite service, we do show football games on our TVs.
Please choose your dates accordingly when making a reservation. If you need help please call us or email reservations@elklakeresort.com

Cancellation Policies & Guest Responsibilities
These updated cancellation policies supersede any previous emails, invoices, receipts, or other promised cancellation rules.
We understand that plans can change, and we do our best to be as fair and flexible as possible while balancing the unique logistics of operating a remote mountain resort. Due to the unpredictable nature of weather, wildfires, and life in general, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to help offset the cost of last-minute cancellations or changes.

Mountain Environment & Uncontrollable Conditions
Elk Lake Resort operates in a mountain environment, where weather and natural conditions can change quickly and unpredictably. Circumstances beyond our control may include, but are not limited to, weather conditions, lack of snow, rain or lightning, excessive heat or sun exposure, wildfire activity or smoke, road closures, or other environmental events.
If these conditions affect travel plans, recreational activities, guest comfort, or personal preferences, refunds or credits will not be issued.
Travel Insurance Recommendation
We strongly recommend that guests purchase travel or experience insurance to protect against unexpected disruptions, cancellations, weather impacts, medical emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances. Travel insurance may provide reimbursement when cancellations occur for covered reasons under the policy. Guests who decline to purchase travel insurance acknowledge that no exceptions to our cancellation or change policies will be made.
Guests may wish to explore providers such as Allianz Global Assistance, Travel Guard, World Nomads, or Travelex. Guests are responsible for reviewing coverage details and selecting a policy that best meets their needs.
Winter Stay Reservations
Our lodge is located 11 miles from Dutchman Flat Sno-Park near Mt. Bachelor and is accessible only by snowcat, snowmobile, or cross-country skis. Upon booking a stay, guests are required to arrange separate snowcat transportation (unless arriving by ski or snowmobile). Transportation must be booked in advance online and is billed separately.
There is limited parking available at Dutchman Flat Sno-Park, and we strongly recommend using Shuttle Oregon for transportation to and from the gate at the Dutchman parking lot.
Guests are solely responsible for securing transportation to the Dutchman Sno-Park pickup area and ensuring timely arrival. The resort does not provide last-minute transportation services. No refunds or credits will be issued for lodging, rentals, or other services resulting from a guest’s failure to arrange transportation to the pickup area or arrive on time.
